Laser FAQ’S

The results you can expect

Technological advances in laser hair removal have now made it possible to permanently reduce unwanted body hair, quickly and easily, with proven long-term results. On the Beam Laser employs Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy for quick and lasting results. You can expect average results of 75 to 90% hair reduction for most people; in some cases, the reduction may be higher than average.

What your skin will be like after treatment

The treated area may be slightly pink or red (simular to mild sunburn) for 1 to 2 hours following treatment, some people may experience follicular edema (swelling of the hair follicle), for most this dissipates quickly. Applying Aloe Vera Gel for 1 to 3 days after treatment will help moisturize and sooth the area.

What the treatment will feel like

A slight pinching or snapping sensation is experienced with treatment. As people experience these types of sensations very differently, you can be guided by your own pain sensitivity. For your comfort a ice pac can be applied prior to treatment to numb the area being treated.

Number of treatments needed

Laser hair removal – Average 6 to 8 treatments are generally needed, some individuals may need more (depending on their skin colour, genetics, etc.).

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) – Photofacial treatments require approximately 5 treatments for best results, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.

No downtime needed

You should however avoid sun exposure, and apply sunscreen with an SPF 30 or greater and take care to cover up. Avoidance of hot tubs, saunas, extreme exercise or other activities that will overheat the skin is also recommended until any redness and or swelling dissipates.

Laser Hair Removal Technology

On the Beam Laser makes use of a Medicam Evolight Max for Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments. The machine emits precise doses of light within specific wavelengths through a handpiece placed on the skin and moved along after every pulse.
